Description
A powerfully built animal covered with brown fur but the abdomen, rump, snout and eye areas are usually white. A mature male Bighorn has massive horns which curve back from the top of their head. The hooves have a tough external layer and are soft on the inside making it an excellent mountaineer and high jumper.
Bighorn males are often called rams. These beautiful creatures are famous for their large, curled horns. Unlike antlers on other animals, horns are not shed annually. These horns on a Rocky Mountain bighorn ram can weigh as much as 30 pounds. img31 204
